Sharing our appreciation for our dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. In 2023, our dispatchers answered nearly 27,000 calls to 911.

Dispatchers inputted about 66,000 entries into the computer system this past year, helping track and disseminate information throughout emergency response agencies for everything from routine area checks to incident responses.

We're blessed in Harvey County with quality, experienced dispatchers - several have been here 10-plus years. Thanks for everything you do for our county, every day, any time!Sharing our appreciation for our dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. It's National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the week to honor the thousands of 9-1-1 Dispatchers who Answer the Call. Here at Harvey County, for the past 10 years it's been my honor and privilege to oversee the best group of Telecommunicators in the business. Their dedication and professionalism is unparalleled. This job isn't for everyone. It takes a special breed to handle the daily roller coaster ride that is this job. Please join me this week in showing appreciation for this excellent group of men and women! ... See moreSee less

Completed our first of four scheduled fish stockings for the year today, introducing more than 1,000 pounds of catfish combined across Camp Hawk, East Park and West Park. There's more than a few heavyweights in the bunch. Fishing is free in our parks - only a Kansas fishing license is required - and the weather this weekend looks perfect, so come on by.

Many thanks to Harbin Fish Farm for providing the new stock!Photos from Harvey County Parks's post

Did you know Newton has an airport? Well we do and today the Harvey County LEPC members had the pleasure of touring this historical spot. Brian Palmer, the Director of Aviation for The Newton City-County Airport, shared with the group all the resources that this hidden gem has available should any help be needed for our citizens. Thanks for the amazing tour and letting us watch the planes come and go. It was "uplifting". 👨‍✈️🛩🚁Photos from Harvey County Emergency Management's post ... See moreSee less

One new convenience we're happy to offer at the Solid Waste facility is we can now accept credit and debit transactions (yes, we know that's fairly common these days, but it took a little extra work to make it available at Solid Waste, and we're excited just the same).

We still accept cash and check transactions, too.
