Harvey County has implemented mandatory recycling for all of Harvey County except commercial enterprises at this time. Hopefully they will be included in the future. The following is a list of all recyclables currently banned from disposal at the transfer station. Our staff pulls out tons of various metals, wood, and electronics from the waste stream. The electronics, i.e. computers, phones, printers, fax machines, TVs, stereos, boom boxes, and anything else that has a circuit board inside it, are placed in Gaylord boxes and hauled to Leavenworth State Pen where they are checked out, disassembled and parts reused, if possible. Harvey County is beginning a free cycle program. Good items are retrieved and placed in a trailer. On the third Saturday of each month the public is allowed to select items for their own use.
