The Harvey County Commission has moved forward with its recommended budget for the 2019 fiscal year. You can view the recommended budget here

The recommended budget asks for an estimated 41.932 mill levy. That essentially keeps the mill levy flat - a decrease of 0.005 mills from 2018.

There is still an opportunity to be involved in the budget process. The public budget hearing is scheduled for July 30 at 10 a.m. in the commission room of the Harvey County Courthouse.

The budget is scheduled to be adopted Aug. 6.

Here is a quick look at some of the capital improvement projects and the project estimates included in this year's budget - the entirety of projects can be found in the complete recommended budget:

  • Replacement of seven sheriff's office vehicles: $199,500
  • Replacing playground equipment at Campers Row in Harvey County East Park: $30,000
  • Installing 50-amp services to portions of Harvey County East Park and West Park: $50,000
  • Improvements to the Harvey County Detention Center: $170,000
  • The County's portion of a remodel to the Law Enforcement Center: $1,000,000

The budget includes $124,977 worth of supplemental requests, with the biggest portions attributed to increases in information technology maintenance agreements and moving a part-time employee to full-time at solid waste.
