The Harvey County Board of Canvassers completed the vote canvass today for the presidential preference primary election. This was the first presidential preference primary held in Kansas since 1992.
There were 2,053 ballots counted in this election out of 22,814 registered voters, making for a 9% turnout. Our thanks to all of our poll site workers and staff that helped throughout the election!
The election board reviewed 31 ballots. There were 25 provisional and six challenged ballots. Of that total, 20 were accepted to be counted.
An example of a provisional ballot is a registered voter that moved within the county, but had not updated their address. One example of a challenged ballot is advance ballots returned without a signature. We attempt to contact that voter to have them correct the deficiency, and include in the count any that do. Additionally, four challenged ballots were ballots received after the deadline for this election, and were not counted.
The canvass board was comprised of county commissioners Don Schroeder, Becky Reimer and Randy Hague.
The certified, official results can be found on our website: ... See moreSee less
Today we're handing out grades for scam calls going around Harvey County.
🔹 The Plot: A person calls your phone and says they are Sgt. Moon (they're not). The person says they have a warrant for you (they don't). They say Undersheriff Chapman has confirmed this (and we can confirm he hasn't). This particular scammer wants you to call 316-370-5004 (don't do that).
🔹 Our Analysis: This scam severely lacks in creativity. Weak premise. Poorly researched. We were bored just listening to it and got bored all over again typing the plot out here. P.S. We tried to call your scam line to have a chat, but you didn't answer for us :(
🔹 Final Grade: F-minus. Maybe F-minus-minus-minus. Ralphie in a A Christmas Story is embarrassed by your grade.
Anyway, scam calls are lame. Our office doesn't contact citizens in this way for warrants. If you're ever unsure, call us on our administrative line, which is 316-284-6960. We're happy to talk about fighting crime, ranking classic scenes from holiday movies or to help make sure you're not getting scammed. ... See moreSee less
Yes, schedule with your family doctor, or feel free to call us for an appointment. 316-283-1637 x 2We're talking about measles, a viral infection declared eliminated in the U.S. in 2000.
Did you know when a person infected with this virus sneezes or coughs, up to 9 out of 10 people around them will become infected if not protected (CDC)?
The best protection for your child against measles is the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine. Schedule a visit with your family doctor: bit.ly/3rovgMT. ... See moreSee less
Spring has arrived (double-checks calendar because the weather isn't cooperating early this week), and the Clerk's Office can help you acquire your state fishing license or boat registration as warm, sunny days enter the forecast.
The Clerk's Office sells fishing licenses on behalf of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. We also do boat and watercraft registrations, which are good for three years, and can provide a temporary permit for your watercraft. We do hunting licenses, too.
Stop by the Clerk's Office in the Harvey County Courthouse Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for more info.Spring has arrived (double-checks calendar because the weather isn't cooperating early this week), and the Clerk's Office can help you acquire your state fishing license or boat registration as warm, sunny days enter the forecast.
