A new Harvey County Comprehensive Plan was adopted in October.

The Harvey County Planning and Zoning Advisory Board recommended the document for approval at its Oct. 8 meeting. The Harvey County Commission approved the plan at its Oct. 29 meeting.

The new Comprehensive Plan can be found here. A finalized version of the document will be available at a later date.

The comprehensive plan is a guiding document utilized as a decision-making tool in land development matters. It covers a wide range of topics for consideration, such as public safety and health, hazards, housing and the economy. It is intended to remain in place for several years, though the plan can be and is often reviewed in the years between.

The development of Harvey County's comprehensive plan went through several steps under the leadership of the Harvey County Planning, Zoning and Environmental Department. Public hearings were held to gather feedback from the community. The Planning and Zoning Advisory Board reviewed chapters of the document over several meetings, and requested updates and revisions over various points to best reflect the county's needs.

Marvin Planning Consultants was the firm selected to construct the comprehensive plan.
