Harvey County has named Brad Jantz as its next county counselor.

The Harvey County Commission approved an agreement for Jantz's services at the Commission's Sept. 24 meeting.

The county counselor serves an integral role for local governments, providing legal advice and expertise for a wide range of areas, such as contracts, policy and regulations.

Jantz has a distinguished and versatile career providing legal services for the public, carrying nearly four decades of experience representing local governments.

He serves as attorney for the cities of Burrton, Halstead and Sedgwick, among others, and as the counselor for Marion County since 2018. He has also served as a judge for various municipalities, and as a member of the Harvey County Indigent Defense Panel.

Jantz earned his juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1985. He also holds a master's degree in business administration from the university. He received his bachelor of arts degree in business administration/economics and history from Bethel College.


Jantz will step into the role previously held by Greg Nye. Nye served as county counselor for 18 years.
