The results of the Harvey County 2024 primary election have been certified.

Official results can be found on the Harvey County Clerk's Office election website.

The election canvass for the primary was completed Aug. 13 during the Harvey County Commission meeting. Commissioners Randy Hague, Becky Reimer and Don Schroeder served as the canvassers. The election was overseen by the Clerk's Office.

There were 22,982 registered Harvey County voters for this election. There were 3,972 ballots cast in the primary, equating to a 17.3 percent turnout.

The election board reviewed 56 provisional and four challenged ballots for the primary. Of those, 36 were approved to be counted.

There were 33 provisional ballots accepted, including 29 voters that had moved within the county, two that had a name change and two that requested an advance-by-mail ballot, but did not vote it and instead voted at their polling site. Of the 23 ballots not accepted, 20 were individuals not registered to vote in Harvey County, and three voted the wrong party ballot for the primary.

The four challenged ballots were voters that received and returned an advance-by-mail ballot, but did not include their signature. The Clerk's Office attempts to contact these voters to have them correct the deficiency prior to the vote canvass. Three did so and one did not, and the three ballots that were corrected were accepted to be counted.

Election Day for the primary was Aug. 6. Early in-person voting was available for two weeks prior to Election Day. There were 551 registered voters that cast their ballot early at the Harvey County Courthouse. There were 1,040 advance-by-mail ballots sent out, with 594 returned to be included in the vote totals.

Next in the election cycle comes the general election. Election Day for the general is Nov. 5.
