The Harvey County Sheriff's Office is holding a summertime coloring contest for kids, with the winning artist getting taken to breakfast by local first responders and getting a ride in a first responder vehicle.
The coloring contest is meant to provide a small, fun summertime activity for kids while encouraging them to feel comfortable approaching and talking to their local firefighters, EMTs, police officers and other emergency personnel.
The coloring contest sheet can be downloaded here.
Any kid is welcome to color in the coloring sheet, while children ages 12 and under are eligible to win the prize. Kids from outside of Harvey County are welcome to participate, but the winner will be selected as someone that lives in Harvey County.
To be eligible for the prize, please fill out the contact information on the back of the page (the information will only be used to let a parent/guardian know the child won the contest). It is free to participate in the contest.
Coloring sheets can be picked up or returned at several locations throughout Harvey County, including:
- Harvey County Law Enforcement Center: 120 E. Seventh St. in Newton (submissions can also be mailed to this address)
- Hesston Public Library: 300 N. Main St. in Hesston
- Newton Fire/EMS stations
- Newton Public Library: 720 Oak St. in Newton
- Norm's Coffee Bar: 613 N. Main St. in Newton
- Sedgwick City Hall: 520 N. Commercial Ave. in Sedgwick
Artwork can be returned anytime between June 1 and July 31 at 5 p.m. In August, a panel of judges will determine the prize winner.
Good luck to all of our local youth artists!
