Facilities closed Dec. 24 at noon, all day Dec. 25 for Christmas break

The 2024 primary election is upcoming, with Election Day to be held Aug. 6.

The Harvey County Clerk's Office will oversee the election processes. Among local races, this election cycle includes several county and township offices.

Here's a list of several important dates to know in the primary election:

  • June 3: Deadline to change party affiliation
  • July 16: Voter registration deadline
  • July 23: Early in-person voting begins
  • July 30: Deadline to request an advance-by-mail ballot
  • Aug. 5: Early in-person voting ends at noon
  • Aug. 6: Election Day
  • Aug. 13: Election canvass.

Harvey County residents can register to vote or check or update their voter registration information in the Clerk's Office at the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main St. in Newton, or online at ksvotes.org.

Early in-person voting for the primary election begins July 23 at the Courthouse. Registered voters can utilize early voting Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Courthouse will also be open for early voting on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early voting concludes Monday, Aug. 5 at noon. Following that, voters will need to vote at their poll site on Election Day.

Advance-by-mail ballots can be requested through July 30. The completed ballot must include the voter's signature. To return the ballot, place it in the return envelope and utilize one of these options:

  • Mail the ballot back to the Harvey County Clerk's Office
  • Bring the ballot to the Clerk's Office at the Courthouse
  • Place the ballot in one of the two ballot drop boxes in Harvey County: On the south side of the Courthouse, or Newton Fire/EMS Station 3 (2520 S. Kansas Ave., Newton)
  • Take the ballot to a poll site on Election Day.
