Election Day for the 2024 general election is Nov. 5.
Along with the presidential ticket, this election cycle includes several local and state seats.
The Harvey County Clerk's Office oversees elections. Here are important dates to know for the general election:
- Oct. 15: Voter registration deadline
- Oct. 22: Early voting begins
- Oct. 29: Deadline to request mail ballot
- Nov. 4: Early voting ends at noon
- Nov. 5: Election Day
- Nov. 12: Election canvass.
Harvey County residents can register to vote, or check or update their registration, online at ksvotes.org. The Clerk's Office can also assist with registration at the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main St. in Newton.
Early in-person voting for the general begins Oct. 22 at the Courthouse. Registered voters can cast their ballot at the Courthouse Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Courthouse will also be open for early voters Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early voting concludes Monday, Nov. 4 at noon. After that, voters will need to visit their poll site on Election Day.
Advance-by-mail ballot applications can be turned in through Oct. 29. Voters must provide their signature in the appropriate space before returning their ballot. Mail ballots can be returned in the accompanying envelope through any of these options:
- Mail the ballot back to the Harvey County Clerk's Office
- Bring the ballot into the Clerk's Office at the Courthouse
- Place the ballot inside one of the two ballot drop boxes in Harvey County: On the south side of the Courthouse, or Newton Fire/EMS Station 3 (2520 S. Kansas Ave., Newton)
- Return the ballot to a poll site on Election Day.
