The Harvey County Commission voted unanimously at its Sept. 10 meeting to adopt its budget for the 2025 fiscal year.

The budget is projected to leave the County's mills flat over the previous year. Here is a comparison of recent County mills:

  • 2025: 43.593 (estimated)
  • 2024: 43.593
  • 2023: 43.604
  • 2022: 42.629
  • 2021: 42.649.

The tax levy for the adopted budget is $17,522,570.

The adoption of the budget concludes a months-long process for the Commission, Harvey County Administration and County departments.

Administrative budget analysis with departments began in earnest in February. The Commission conducted department budget hearings in May.

The Commission moved forward with a recommended budget on July 16. That version of the budget considered a potential 3.0 mill increase aimed at increasing public safety staffing and addressing additional road and bridge projects.

Revenue neutral rate and public budget hearings were held Aug. 20. In the weeks following, the Commission consensus was not to increase mills for the 2025 budget.
