Facilities closed Dec. 24 at noon, all day Dec. 25 for Christmas break
Here is a brief look at some of the services provided at the Harvey County Transfer Station. For more information about a particular service, please call the Harvey County Solid Waste Department.

Compost
Solid Waste manages a composting operation at the Transfer Station. Residents are welcome to provide materials such as leaves, sawdust and grass clippings for the site at no charge. The materials are mixed into the compost rows, and in time, the compost is spread around the Solid Waste construction and demolition site. Due to materials introduced into the composting operation, the compost is not available for public use.

Construction and Demolition
Solid Waste maintains a site dedicated solely to construction and demolition waste products. Examples of materials that are acceptable in the construction and demolition site include home construction and remodeling materials, road building materials, debris, brick, concrete and wooden pallets. Only specific materials can be introduced into the site. For example, items not allowed to be mixed into loads include common trash, tires and friable asbestos. The fee schedule is available here.

Brush and Limbs
Residents can dispose of loads of brush and limbs at the Transfer Station. The fee schedule is available here.

Appliances
Harvey County can accept some large appliances at the Transfer Station, such as washers and dryers. The Transfer Station cannot accept appliances with refrigeration units, such as freezers, dehumidifiers, refrigerators or air conditioning units.

Household Hazardous Waste
Solid Waste oversees a household hazardous waste program to help residents safely dispose of common household items. It also operates the Household Hazardous Waste Reuse program to repurpose eligible materials. Read more about HHW and HHW Reuse here.

Recycling
As of May 2022, the Transfer Station no longer separates recyclable material - recyclables brought to the facility are mixed into and included in the municipal waste stream. Individual cities or waste service providers may offer recycling services within the county. Please contact your respective provider for more information.
