The Kansas Women, Infants and Children program offers nutrition support to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, and to children up to 5 years old. Harvey County's local WIC office is part of the Harvey County Health Department.
WIC provides benefits for nutritious foods, nutrition education to support a healthy pregnancy and improve birth outcomes, and prevent or correct health problems caused by poor nutrition.
The Harvey County WIC office is open by appointment only, Monday through Friday. To make an appointment or determine your eligibility, please call us at 316-283-1637 ext. 227.
Upon determining eligibility, we will issue a WIC benefits card along with education on using WIC benefits. During the first WIC appointment, we will check height, weight, and sometimes, a hemoglobin check. There will be a brief review of the food you eat, medical history and current health status to determine any medical or nutritional needs.
Information you will need to provide to qualify for WIC services:
- Proof of identity for adult.
- Proof of identity for child, such as a birth certificate or birth confirmation letter for newborns, KanCare card, social security card, foster care papers and shot records.
- Proof of residency, such as a rent receipt, mail or utility bills within the last 30 days.
- Proof of household income within the last 30 days for all people living in the home, such as Medicaid card, pay stub, SRS benefit letter or income tax records (for self-employed individuals).
