NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS - KANSAS LOCAL FOOD FELLOW (temporary position)
K-State Research and Extension Local Food Systems Fellowship is now open with the Harvey County Health Department, based in Newton. Applicant must be at least 18 years old. This is a temporary 320 hours (ideally full-time over eight weeks) fellowship that runs May 1, 2024 –July 1, 2024. See details here - FOOD FELLOW.

The Harvey County Health Department and community partners and residents determined the top health issues through the Community Health Needs Assessment in 2023, and from that, created the Harvey County Community Health Improvement Plan. The CHIP provides guidance and focus to improve the health issues from 2023 into 2026. The CHIP can be viewed by clicking here.


The Health Department and other local health partners teamed up for a panel discussion to talk about preventing prescription and opioid misuse in our communities. You can see the video from the panel below.

The Health Department now offers STI and HIV testing, as well as lead screening. We can collect samples Mondays through Thursdays, with the exception of days prior to state holidays.
