Since its inception in 1872, the Harvey County Sheriff's Office has maintained its commitment to protecting, supporting and educating our citizens and visitors. While enforcement is an important component of our responsibilities, we also commit ourselves to community outreach. We seek to establish ourselves as approachable and trustworthy. If a time comes where a situation necessitates a law enforcement response, know that we will keep the best interests and safety of our communities front of mind.
The sheriff is an elected position. The sheriff serves a four-year term. Chad Gay is the current sheriff. Gay began his first term Jan. 9, 2017 and was re-elected to a second term, which runs through 2024.
